Heart Cushion Project

HOPE-ANGEBOT

A cushion is more than just fabric and wool—it’s a symbol of hope. At HopeCenter Cologne, we sew together for people going through difficult times.

What are the heart-shaped cushions for?

A heart-shaped cushion helps women with breast cancer immediately after surgery. Placed under the arm, it relieves scar pain and lymphatic swelling. It provides protection during everyday activities—for example, under a seat belt in the car—and, above all, offers comfort.

Little Helpers: Port Cushions

Many patients have an implanted port for infusions. Our small port cushions (approx. 8 × 15 cm), made from soft cotton, attach to a bag strap or seat belt with a hook-and-loop fastener, preventing painful pressure on the sensitive area.

Get Involved: Enjoy Fellowship

For us, it’s about much more than sewing. We spend time together, share ideas, and create something meaningful. Can’t sew? No problem! We also need helping hands to cut fabric, fill the cushions with stuffing, and choose fabrics.

Our Upcoming Dates in Cologne

Every third Wednesday of the month, from 1:00 to 6:00 pm:

Looking Back: A Day Full of Sparkling Eyes

On 7 May 2025, our “Do it for Hope” team visited the Hundertwasser House in Essen. We had the privilege of giving handmade hearts, port pouches, and cuddly toys to families with seriously ill children. It was a moving day that showed us: hope grows wherever people are there for one another.
